Its been oven a year since I went cruelty free and it's safe to say navigating the cruelty free world can be difficult. There has been many occasions where I have been stood in Boots or Super Drug googling brands, or purchasing from a brand that then decides to stop being cruelty free, like NARS.

You're NARS what I thought

If you can tell from my blog, I only buy cruelty free makeup. NARS was one of my favourite brands; I recently just purchased their primer, new lipstick and and concealer and was going to obviously write a quick post reviewing them. Sadly however, NARS announced this week they're no longer going to be cruelty free and so gone was my review and instead here we are, addressing something far more important.

Cruelty Free Makeup- Illamasqua Highlighter and Foundation

I had heard of Illamasqua a while ago but never really considered buying into the products, just because they are a little more expensive than urban decay, elf and too faced. In December however, I booked in to have my makeup done with them for a ball and I fell a little bit in love with the coverage and pigment that their products create. I have never been complimented on my eyes and highlighter so much in my life as well. I truly felt like a princess!

Recently though, I have had a lot more time to consider what I wear from clothes to makeup and the more I learn the more shocked I am by the beauty world.

In today's world there should be no reason for testing on animals, in 2013 the EU banned cosmetic products that had been tested on animals which was a huge relief to many people. We know enough about how products work and the chemicals that have been put into a lipstick or eye shadow that the animal isn't required yet animal is still testing taking place!
