Cruelty Free Makeup- Illamasqua Highlighter and Foundation

I had heard of Illamasqua a while ago but never really considered buying into the products, just because they are a little more expensive than urban decay, elf and too faced. In December however, I booked in to have my makeup done with them for a ball and I fell a little bit in love with the coverage and pigment that their products create. I have never been complimented on my eyes and highlighter so much in my life as well. I truly felt like a princess!

Illamasqua require a £50 deposit for your makeup to be done, it's obviously alot more than other places but it is all redeemable on products which I think is pretty worth while. With my voucher I bought the highlighter and foundation but I didn't get to try them out until after Christmas as they were presents.

First lets talk about the foundation.

I had fake tanned before the ball and so was a little darker than normal, I was matched up perfectly to my fake tan shade but was also given a small pot of white which allows me to add it to the foundation for when I don't have a tan on.

Having the white base has made a huge difference and allows me to ensure a perfect match regardless of my tanned state.

The skin base foundation offers fantastic cover, doesn't move all day and allows layers to be built up to create more coverage if required. It is certainly a good replacement for my Clarins ever matte which I had to stop using due to not being cruelty free.

My only little issue with the foundation is the cost at £32.50, and if you want to get it with the primer as well, the set will set you back £40 which is a little more costly than I'm happy to pay, especially when the bottle is quite small. We shall see how long it lasts me to decide whether it's worth while but so far so good.

Next up is the Beyond Powder Highlighter in OMG. I fell in love with this as soon as I entered the shop. It was glimmering at me during my makeup application and it felt like a long wait till I got to try it out.

What I love about this highlighter is its building ability, I have sometimes found that highlighters can look to much very quickly, this highlighter however enables you to gradually increase with each brush stroke. If you want a heavy highlight though, it does take time to build up to this.

The shimmer is seriously impressive yet it seems like the perfect amount, they even have a bronzer version if you want to have a shimmering contour as well.

At £32, the highlighter is a little more expensive than some others but I expect it to last for a fairly long time and so, I think it is worth every penny.

Both these products are great, and can easily be built on from day to night!

Have you ever tried these products? What do you think of Illmasqua?
