What a year! What an absolutely ridiculously bizarre year!
I don't think there will ever be enough words to discuss bizarre this year has been with Brexit (which I will never be okay with and will continue to battle with holding conversations with people once I find out they voted leave) and then Trump (how can someone who sexually assaults women, constantly lies, is vile to ethnic minorities, let alone has no political experience be voted in as President). It is as if the world has turned into a sitcom. People constantly view their lives through a screen and because you feel so detached from everything it just seems as if a dream is happening and nothing is really real at all.
There has been so much hate and violence,a genocide of sorts that our country and so many others around the world fail to accept and more racism than I have ever experienced. A man just this week was jailed in Saudi Arabia for suggesting that maybe women shouldn't have to be controlled by men at all times as this has been known to lead to abuse. The world has officially gone mad!
There has been a lot of bad this year overshadowing so much good around and so many lies hiding away amazing facts.
I mean I graduated this year, so it surely cant all be bad.
Tiger populations are on the increase which is phenomenal and China have announced that by the end of 2017 they will have banned the sale of ivory.
Climate change was also taken seriously by the world for the first time and numerous countries have ran on renewable energy for a few days, even Scotland even managed to be powered by wind for a day.
More women are in director or prominent positions globally than ever before and even Ebola now has a vaccine.
I got to travel and see new parts of the world including Morocco, Greece (find out more about from Mykonos and Santorini) and Slovenia (picture envy to my summer).
I've had the privilege of making friends with amazing bloggers, go check out Lily and Ellie's blogs for fantastic posts on travel if you need some holiday inspiration!
I also got to fall in love and travel with this wonderful human who manages to make me smile and laugh through every bad day and awful essay I've had to endure.
Who knows what this year will hold?! For the first time in my life I have absolutely no idea where I will be living or what job I will doing come this time next year. I may not be able to even go to Europe easily and Trump may have pressed a button by accident and caused WW3.
Who has a clue but the one thing I do know is that I can make a difference and I can spread happiness even if thats just with a smile. 2017 could be the year where the world realises that politics isn't the issue, but materialism driven by big corporate business is, but that is a discussion for another time.
2017 is bound to have plenty of ups and downs but instead of watching issues maybe we can all try and do something about them instead. As like Ronan Keating saying "Life is a roller coaster, you just have to ride it!".
Goodbye 2016,
with love
