A Trip to Brighton- 64 Degrees Restaurant Review

Hello hello, I hope you are all enjoying your weekend. Last Monday I went to see my best friend, Alice, in Brighton. Whilst we were there, we did a fair amount of shopping and relaxing at Coalition (a bar on the beach), but we decided that we wanted to head out for a nice meal in the evening.

64 degrees has some good reviews online and so we thankfully managed to squeeze in and get a table. To say that I enjoyed myself is an understatement.

The restaurant is tiny and only seats around 18 people. We were seated right in front of wear the chefs prepare your food, which was brilliant to see. 64 degrees isn't your typical restaurant, I would describe the food as posh British tapas. The waitress recommended that we order 6 portions between us from the list of 12 (we chose four as we had some naughty cheesy chips earlier).

The menu is split into 4 fish options, 4 meat and 4 vegetarian so there was still a good choice. We chose to have Skate cheek, Tuna, Scallops, Tagliatelle and a glass of wine.

First we were given a small starter whilst we waited for our food. the dish was tuna was capers and mango sauce and was absolutely incredible.

I love how 64 don't send all your food out at once, you are given each of your selected dishes one at a time so that you can enjoy them independently. I really like this idea as it prevents you from scoffing the meal and forces you to really enjoy all of the flavours and combinations that have been put together in the dish.

Seared Tuna, with pomegranate and passion fruit dressing

Scallops with parsnips, turnips and maple syrup

Skate Cheek

Tagliatelle with yolk and truffle
All of the food was out of this world, there was nothing I could fault, when we were offered dessert we couldn't say no and so we chose to have the chocolate option.

The dessert was AMAZING. The solid pieces tasted like the hard top of a brownie, there were crumbled white and dark chocolate biscuits thrown on with a creamy toffee type mousse centre.

The only downside of the whole thing is that I couldn't do it all over again! 64 degrees isn't a cheap night out, with each portion costing between £6-£13 but I do feel it was worth every penny.

There isn't many times where I have been blown away by a restaurant but 64 degrees really did impress. The atmosphere allows you to chat away comfortably and watching your food be prepared is a great touch. This, paired with the small space gave a really intimate experience.

I just cant wait for the menu to change so I can go back and indulge all over again.

Have you ever visited 64 degrees? What is your favourite restaurant where you live and why?

Love
