Visiting Cornwall; Padstow

There are those places that you can visit and it feels like the rest of the world has melted away. Your breaths feel deeper, your mind feels clearer and your soul, happier. For me, that place is Cornwall.

Every small town that I visit makes me fall even more in love with the area. If I could, I would move down to that corner of the world in a heart beat, even if the winter winds can chill you to the core.

I'm lucky enough to be able to visit my step grandparents house in a village just outside Newquay called Mawgan Porth. I mean, check out the sunsets, they're beyond impressive.

This year I visit the house as a place to escape to and finish my masters dissertation. The plan worked a treat as on return back to reality I only had editing left to complete. Whilst I spent the mornings writing, the afternoons of our trip were spent exploring some of my favourite spots and some new places I had yet to visit.

First on the agenda was a small town called Padstow which sell THE BEST fudge you will ever try (the shops called Buttermilk and they even sell it online!).

The towns harbour has an intoxicating bustling atmosphere and nearly all the restaurants are independent with most of the food sourced from the fishing boats or the local farmers markets making you feel even better about the food you're eating.

Gorgeous galleries and clothes brands line the streets and kids crowd the harbour front with their fishing lines, hoping to catch a crap. Those with the patience often do.

For me, Padstow is the perfect picturesque seaside town with fantastic restaurants if you choose. If  not, there is always fish and chips wrapped in paper with a bench on the harbour front where you can people watch to your hearts content.

Some towns just offer it all, and Padstow should you visit, will demonstrate that it really does do it all.

Just be warned, if you want your hair braided or a quick icecream, you should bring some cash with you. The town only has one cash machine and the queue is always ridiculous!

Have you ever visit Padstow? What is your favourite Cornish town?

Love
Erin
