Brand of the Week; Wintervacht

This weeks brand of the week is exceptionally niche, but as we are now officially in winter, having a brand that specialises in coats made perfect sense to me. Wintervacht a norwegian brand is therefore the focus of this week.

So what makes Wintervacht different? Well, all of their garments are made out of old blankets and curtains. Essentially they are one very large recycling platform turning unwanted items into something beautiful and usable.

The brand is still pretty young (as fashion brands go), forming officially in 2013 but that doesn't take away from the fantastic work they are doing.

You can even participate by sending your old unwanted items into them, from this you will either recieve mittens or a headband from your item and the comfort of knowing you are helping move the fashion into a more circular economy.

The idea of recycling clothing is nothing new, but a lot of the items I have seen repurposed have lost that style edge that many people look for, making them less desirable. Wintervacht most certainly have not done this as although they have some seriously quirky pieces, they have kept the sharp cuts many striking pieces require.

What do you think of Wintervacht? Where do you get your coats from?

Love
Erin
