Brand of the Week; People Tree

I somehow missed last weeks brand of the week, hey, sometimes life gets in the way a little.

Anyway this weeks brand is one that if you know a little about sustainable fashion you may have heard them. They are called People Tree.
                         Beaded Top | £79                                       Checked Trousers | £99
People Tree's founding principle was that they are fairtrade in every way. Thee company wanted to work differently to other brands out there and so that's exactly what they have done.

The brand is a pioneer in ethical and sustainable fashion and is recognised globally for their achievements which is pretty darn impressive.

                         Corduroy Jacket | £125                              Corduroy Trousers | £85
Today they sell only organic cotton and they were the first to integrate organic cotton into their global supply chain.

One thing I love about People Tree is that they design clothes that are high quality yet not extortionate in price which can often be the way with other sustainable brands.

Additionally, whilst lots of brands talk about sustainability not many apply the idea of fair trade to every element of the business.

                         Corduroy Pinafore | £85                            Anita Abstract Dress | £89
Along with incorporating fairtrade and sustainability into the heart of the business, the brand is also the first to be awarded the Global Organic Textile Standard certification on a supply chain based entirely in the developing world which is no small feat! They also use azo free dyes and organic cotton. Why this is a good thing? Well, azo dyes have been found to have potential carcinogens in them and organic cotton, as discussed in my post all about it here has positive environmental and health benefits.

Wide Leg Trousers | £119                          Frill Top | £27 Last but by no means least, the brand always tries to source locally, choosing recycled or natural products when they can which is pretty impressive.

People Tree really are striving to be the best brand for ethical and sustainable fashion and they are the leaders to show other companies how to be better as well.

Do you like People Tree? Whats your favourite sustainable brand?

Love
Erin
