A Day Out in Chester

As I have been living in Chester recently, I felt like it was the perfect opportunity to do a post about what I got up to when I spent a day in the city doing all of the touristy things.

Chester is a beautiful city with picturesque buildings, lovely shops and plenty of nooks and crannies to explore.

I was staying in Hoole and so after walking into the centre which took about 30 minutes we first headed to the Cathedral. You can get into the Cathedral for free but if you want to go up to the tower on the tour you do have to pay.

The whole Cathedral is surprisingly large, and has been kept in brilliant condition.

After wandering around the grounds for a while we then to grab some lunch from Moules a Go Go. The restaurant is a little quirky with lots of colours inside, but has a brilliant atmosphere and was really busy for a Thursday lunchtime.

I chose Fritters of sweet potato, carrot & parsnip with a pineapple chilli jam for a starter and it was really delicious. I have never considered creating fritters with anything other than potato and so I have a feeling I may need to recreate this dish at home when I have time.

For my main course I had a slow roasted pulled pork burger with BBQ sauce and cheese which was also really tasty although I was really full when I finished!!

Overall I was really impressed with the food and although we had to wait a little between courses due to the large table they had in, they gave us free bread and our two courses only cost £9.95 each which I felt was really well priced!!

After food we wandered over to the huge park where squirrels were everywhere.

We then took a stroll under the arches near the river before reaching the Roman amphitheatre, where I got to practise my awful acting skills.

We rounded of our day with a walk along the city walls that offer brilliant views of the city before heading back home.

Chester is a great day out and I wish I had been able to go shopping a little as well but that's saved for next time.

Have you ever visited Chester? What are your favourite cities?

Love
