Big, Bold & Beautiful

I am a massive fan of colourful items to brighten up an outfit whether that be a coat, a fun top or pair of shoes. In my view, the shoes that I wear the most, are the shoes I fell in love with straight away. Even once I have left the shop they are on my mind calling out to me to go back and buy them, and, more times than not I do. Footwear is just as important as the outfit you have chosen that day!

Statement heels have always been in fashion to me and there are certainly a great number of them around. Now there are so many that it can be hard to decide which pair is the right pair for you. Heels are always tricky to pick. You must try them on and really decide whether they go with something you have or if they will go with the outfit in mind otherwise they will just remain there in the bottom of your wardrobe. More times than not I will have the item of clothing with me so that I can see if they really do match. The whole point of owning a pair of heels is to make your legs look longer, provide your bum with that important lift and to make you feel like you can conquer the world. If they fail to do even one of those, then they are not worth buying!

When picking your heel make sure the shoe fits! You are Cinderella and the shoe needs to be right.
Unless you can change your foot shape some shoes types really wont fit your feet. This is a personal thing and everyone is different.

Make sure you can walk in the heels. The amount of people I see on nights out that I am envious of when they are stood at the bar but as soon as they begin to walk looking like a robot is to high to count. The song these boots are made for walking definitely applies to heels to. The last thing you want is a twisted ankle and grazed knees from falling over in your pretty but impossible shoes. Trust me I learnt this the hard way. You spend the majority of time walking or dancing in heels and so you want to be able to enjoy them!

After you have invested your hard earned cash into the heels make sure you invest in padded inserts! You may think they are the comfiest shoes ever when you first put them on but after a few hours your feet will be telling you they are not.

The most important heel lesson is.. Break them in. Wear the shoes round the house the week before if you have a big event. This means that you will already be used to the shoes and can wear them for even longer.

Here are some of my favourite statement heels that I have found over the past few weeks. If I had enough money (and space) I would be buying them all!

My favourite shoes at the moment. Clockwise from the centre: River Island £50, Topshop £60, ASOS £45, River Island £45, ASOS £30, Topshop £55, ASOS £40, ASOS £40

And after you have partied till your feet want to fall off maybe rest up your little toes!
