Brand of the Week; Kowtow

I'm a big lover of minimalist fashion, there is something effortless when its done well and manages to make anyone look flawless. Key statement pieces and clean lines ooze class. There are so many bloggers which show this to from MODERN LEGACY and FASHIONVIBE to Decades of Shade and Emma Hill.

                           Rhapsody Top | $130                                  Odyssey Pant | $220
I'm not here to talk about some fantastic fashion bloggers (although maybe I should at some point), instead I'm talking about KOWTOW, a clothing brand that encompasses minimal fashion, sustainability and ethical sourcing.

                           Onward Dress | $170                                  Shadow Dress | $190
The companies keeps ethical and sustainable values at the core which is why they ensure all their garments are certified by non-profit organisations.

                           Runaway Overalls | $290                           Fold out Shirt | $160
What makes their products different? Well, firstly all their cotton is certified Fairtrade. If you aren't sure what fairtrade is, "its trade between companies in developed countries and producers in developing countries in which fair prices are paid to the producers." Naturally this is something we should want for all our garments. Additionally, the fairtrade farmers received a premium that can be spent on community projects from books and clothes for school children, to rainwater conservation and so fairtrade products have the power to help not just farmers but whole communities.

                           Rhyme Dress | $250                                   Gala Dress | $230
Additionally, the types of cotton kowtow use are not made from genetically modified seeds. Instead the crops are handpicked and organic.

                           Slow Pace Dress | £270                              Pavement Shorts | $190

Moving on from the cotton, their buttons are made from recycled hemp, whilst denim sliders and takes are made nickel free and tested to ensure that they come into the Eco-Management and Audit Scheme.

   Student Dress | $230                                  Departure Blazer | $240
The dye used in their products is also something to boast about with as its certified by the Global Organics Textile Standard meaning no chlorine bleach, toxic heavy metals, aromatic solvents or formaldhyde are used.

                           Harbour Culottes | $160                            Sail Top | $110
Its safe to say the brand is using organic cottons in fantastic ways with over five different woven cotton fabrics alone and they are not going to stop there. They are constantly researching to develop and push their product ranges further demonstrating that clothes which have a reduced impact on the planet can still look fantastic!

What do you think of Kowtow? Whats your favourite sustainable brand?

Love
Erin
