Brand of the Week; Finlayson

This week I'm not looking at clothes specifically, instead we are changing things up (a little) with a Swedish company called Finlayson.
I feel like the main reason these are being featured on my brand of the week is because they have the philosophy of , "we promise to be nice to everyone, except for those, who are mean to the environment". This for them is always about sustainability.

Many of the companies initiatives therefore are around sustainability from the fact that their shops are run on EKOenergy to their quality ambition to ensure that their their products to last for as long as possible. This also comes with the hope to use new ecological materials in their items as well.

One area that the textile industry appear to brush under the metaphorical carpet is the large waste quantities produced by consumers who just chuck their clothes when they are finished with them. Finlayson are however trying to address this problem which is a step in the right direction. They started a campaign asking for consumers to send back their retired sheets, allowing the products to be recycled into rug pieces in Finland. They are trying to find new ways to recycle other materials to so that they can expand the initiative.

Because the company have sustainability matters ingrained they ensure all their products reach a set code of conduct and only use suppliers from Turkey and Europe. All of their products also dont contain any harmful chemicals to make sure they are safe for all consumers.

The companies strong moto means they dont associate with dealers who have been found to be part of racist and sectarian properganda, cutting ties with them to not contribute to bad people doing bad things.

I love how Finlayson are improving for the better and are trying out new initiatives to help not only increase the brands sustainability but also help to reduce waste on the planet as well!
