Healthy Chocolate Chia Seed Energy Balls

Nothing beats healthy sweet treats that fill you up and stop you reaching for the sweety jar or snack bags.

Healthy Chia Chocolate Snack

I found an amazing recipe for these chia seed chocolate bites on the honest system and after a little twist I found my new favourite bite size snack that was perfect for those afternoon nibbles or post work out treat.

Healthy Chia Chocolate Snack

The recipe is super easy to make as well.

Healthy Chia Chocolate Snack
All you need

125g Almond Butter
80g Honey
60g Raw cocoa powder
180g oats ( I use gluten free oats)
1 tsp vanilla extract
50g Chia seeds
60g dark chocolate (I used green and blacks)
1 pinch of salt

Instructions

First you need to melt the almond butter and honey in a small pan on a low heat. Once melted together add in the cocoa powder and the pinch of salt until all combined together.

Next, in a big bowl mix the oats and chia seeds together and then add the cocoa, almond and honey mix using your hands to really make sure the mixes are thoroughly combined.

Allow the mix to cool down for 5-10 minutes in the fridge. Whilst the mixture is cooling place a glass bowl in a saucepan with a small amount of water. heat the water until nearly boiling and then add 5 pieces of dark chocolate and allow it to melt. Then maintain the chocolate in a liquid form.

Once the mixture has cooled down take it out of the fridge and and roll into bite size balls.

Next dip the ball into the melted chocolate so that one side is covered and then place the ball onto a plate. Do this with the entire batch and then place back into the fridge to allow the chocolate the set.

Now all there is to do is eat up and enjoy!

As all of the products in the mix don't really have a use by date you can keep them in your fridge for up to a couple of weeks in a sealed container as well!
